Mutianyu Great Wall is 75 KM outside Beijing.This section of the Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings – dense woods and rich pastures of changing colors with the seasons of a year.

Located in Huairou County about 45 miles (75 KM) from Beijing City, Mutianyu Great Wall has a long history and is part of the glorious culture of Beijing China. It connects Juyongguan Pass to the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the East. The wall was built in the dynasty Northern Qi (550 – 557). In the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), Tan Lun and Qi Jiguang, two famous patriotic generals, rebuilt it to strengthen its defensive potential when they were defending the strategic passage. He served as a shield from the north, keeping capital and imperial mausoleums generations.

After a one-hour visit the Ding Tomb, you have 45 minutes to take a short visit of Jade Sculpture Factory. After lunch, you continue to travel the Great Wall of  Mutianyu. The Mutianyu Great Wall is known for its beautiful surroundings – dense woods and rich pastures of changing colors with the seasons of a year. Mutianyu Great Wall is located in Huai Rou County, northeast of Beijing. This section of the Great Wall is about 75 km from downtown Beijing. As one of the best preserved parts of the Great Wall, the Mutianyu Section of Great Wall used to serve as the northern barrier defending the capital and the imperial tombs. If you want to reach the highest point, cable is a good choice (optional).
